Best-of-the-Beach Format

Here is how the Varsity EVP's, 2-on-2, Best-of-the-Beach will work:

1.) Sign up your child as an individual, preregistrations are required

*This format is too difficult to make last minute adjustments for walk-ins

*Arrive 15 minutes early, so we may assign courts

2.) The day of the tournament, every player is assigned to a pool/court:

-Pools consists of 4 players (age divisions will be separated as best as possible)

-Pools are also divided by clubs, avoiding the same club players playing each other in round 1

-Everyone plays everyone one game (first to 21 points) in their pools

-One side switch, when the first team reaches 11 points

3.) First round points decide second round placement:

-Tie breaker in the first round goes to the first head-to-head

-Three-way tie breaker goes to the winner of the second head-to-head

4.) Second round will go as follows:

Court 1
-Pool A #1 in points
-Pool B #2 in points
-Pool C #3 in points
-Pool D #4 in points
Court 2
-Pool B #1 in points
-Pool C #2 in points
-Pool D #3 in points
-Pool A #4 in points
Court 3
-Pool C #1 in points
-Pool D #2 in points
-Pool A #3 in points
-Pool B #4 in points

Court 4
-Pool D #1 in points
-Pool A #2 in points
-Pool B #3 in points
-Pool C #4 in points

Note: If players happened to be placed in a tougher pool during round 1, then formatting round 2 this was way helps balance as much as we can with only scheduling 3 rounds.  In the past, we had the top 2 in points from round 1 move up but then the 3rd in points in a tougher pool from round 1 had no chance to move up even if they finished #1 in round 2.

4.) Everyone plays everyone again

-Second round points decide final round placement

-Tie breakers in the second round go to most points of 6 games

-Everyone will get 9 games!!!

5.) At the end of day, everyone receives Varsity EVP points

-"Best-of-the-Beach" winners of each age division earns prizes
